Agility
Erin Moore

Erin joins us all the way from South Africa, where she re-discovered her childhood passion for dogs and got stuck head first in the doggy world as an obedience and agility instructor.  She has completed a 2 year apprenticeship to become a qualified dog trainer through the South Africa Dog Training College.   Along with being an instructor she participated in Obedience, Agility competitions and shows in South Africa with her previous border collie Nana. She competed in beginners agility and had started into Novice Agility when she decided to try something new, so moved over to Canada a year and a half ago with her 2 year old border collie Piper. Being a dogwalker allows her to spend her days with dogs and she decided to teach Beginner's Agility to allow other people to have the fun and bonding with their dogs that she enjoys on a daily basis.

What is Agility?

Agility is a dog sport in which a handler directs their dog through an obstacle course in a race against other handlers and dogs. Begginers Agility introduces the different obstacles to you and your dog, teaching you how to teach your dog each piece of equipment and how to properly navigate each, while having a fun time “playing” with your dog.

Why try Agility?

  • Have fun teaching and playing with your dog. Many dogs LOVE agility!

  • Classes are 100% positive (correction free training while your dog is on course)

  • Build up self confidence in dogs

  • Build a better “working” relationship with your dog and increase your bond.

  • Teaches a dog focus and works their mind as much as it does their body

Who can sign up for Agility?

Beginners Agility classes are for dogs that have completed some type of basic obedience course. Junior handlers (11 years old+) are welcome provided that they can control their dogs on a flat collar. No choke chains, pinch collars, or electric collars of any type allowed. Due to the physical development of dogs unfortunately no dogs under 18 months will be allowed. Dogs must have up-to-date vaccinations, including Bordetella (Kennel Cough.)

Classes are 1 hour long, Saturdays for 6 weeks.

$100 (+ taxes) for the 6 week set of classes.

Only one dog per handler and only one handler per dog.

Class size limit of 6 dogs, so first come first served. Once your payment has been received your place is booked! Payment needs to be made 3 days before classes start otherwise your place will be given to the next person.
